The Kapalua Resort, which is located at the north end of the West Maui Mountains, is a resort community developed over the past 30 years. Hotels, Villas and private homes offer a wide range of housing. Kapalua Resort has 2 championship golf courses (Bay and Plantation) and a full teaching academy with complete practice facilities. Tennis courts are also available near the Bay Course clubhouse offering some of the finest outdoor tennis courts found on Maui.
A few of the reasons we love the Kapalua Resort area, besides the magnificent championship golf courses, are the slightly cooler weather, the lush natural vegetation of the area and spectacular dining. While we may receive slightly more rain than other parts of Maui, it rarely prevents us from enjoying our golf.
The newly renovated Ritz-Carlton offers all the amenities you expect of a five star hotel. The beach at the Ritz has a beach activities desk for a variety of water sports. We appreciate the privilege of being able to enjoy the use of their cascading pool and Jacuzzi. They have a fabulous Spa which offers a variety of programs and daily or weekly passes for use of their health fitness center are available for a fee.
Walking is a great way to get around and enjoy the sites in the area. Our typical walk around the resort takes about an hour and provides elevation changes from the coastal shoreline to the top of Office Road. We enjoy exploring the coastal trail and watching sunsets from Kapalua Bay Point. The beach at the Kapalua Bay is one of the most beautiful places with its protected bay that is great for snorkeling.
Just across from the north entrance to the Ridge Villas is a small beach that you can reach from the lower road by using the access path that runs next to the Ironwoods Villas. This beach is secluded and offers a bit more surf.
